Mathew Higbee and Natasha Buchanan attended the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS) Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado from March 20, 2011 – March 22, 2011. On behalf of the Foundation, they made significant headway with several consumer reporting agencies (CRAs) and wholesale data providers to bring them on board to participate in the Criminal Record Clearinghouse project. The Foundation is very excited with the progress that was made with bringing on more CRAs and expanding the benefits to consumers who participate in the Criminal Database Update service.
The Foundation also attended several seminars on background screening regulations, consumer privacy rights and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) compliance for CRAs.
The Foundation is looking forward to not only bringing on more CRAs to benefit the public but also benefit the CRA by reducing their legal liability and mitigate the risk of reporting outdated information.
